道德準則 十三條 1. 節(jié)制：食不過飽，飲不過量；TEMPERANCE. Eat not to dullness; drink not to elevation.2. 節(jié)言：于人于己不利的話不說，避免瑣碎的閑聊；SILENCE. Speak not but what may benefit others or yourself; avoid trifling conversation.3. 秩序：物件有所歸，辦事有定時；ORDER. Let all your things have their places; let each part of your business have its time.4. 決心：該做的事情一定要做，決心要做的事情一定要做好；RESOLUTION. Resolve to perform what you ought; perform without fail what you resolve.5. 節(jié)儉：花錢要于人于已有利，決不浪費；FRUGALITY. Make no expense but to do good to others or yourself; i.e., waste nothing.6. 勤勞： 珍惜時間， 時間要花在做有用的事情上，力戒無意義的舉動；INDUSTRY. Lose no time; be always employ'd in something useful; cut off all unnecessary actions.7. 誠實：力戒虛偽欺詐，心存良知與公正，說話亦如此；SINCERITY. Use no hurtful deceit; think innocently and justly, and, if you speak, speak accordingly.8. 正直：不做有損他人的事情，要做對人們有益的事情，這是你的義務；JUSTICE. Wrong none by doing injuries, or omitting the benefits that are your duty.9. 中庸： 不走極端， 別人對你的冒犯， 若是正當，就要善于容忍；MODERATION. Avoid extreams; forbear resenting injuries so much as you think they deserve.10. 整潔：身體、衣物以及住所，要保持清潔；CLEANLINESS. Tolerate no uncleanliness in body, cloaths, or habitation.11. 寧靜：對待瑣事、平常事或者不可避免之事，不可自擾；TRANQUILLITY. Be not disturbed at trifles, or at accidents common or unavoidable.12. 貞節(jié)：不要縱欲過度，有傷身體，切忌損害自己或者他人的安寧和名譽；CHASTITY. Rarely use venery but for health or offspring, never to dulness, weakness, or the injury of your own or another's peace or reputation.13. 謙虛：仿效耶穌與蘇格拉底。HUMILITY. Imitate Jesus and Socrates.我的意思在于養(yǎng)成習慣，奉行這些道德準則。對于上述準則，我以為不要同時去實施，免得分散注意力，而是在一段時間里專注實行一種準則；等到一種美德養(yǎng)成了習慣，再實行下一種，直到把十三條完全做到。先獲得的美德有利于其他美德的培養(yǎng)?；谶@種觀點，我把所有的美德按照上述順序加以排列。
