It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. 凡是有錢的單身漢，總想娶位太太，這已經(jīng)成了一條舉世公認(rèn)的真理。
這是小說《傲慢與偏見》(Pride and Prejudice)的第一句話。這句經(jīng)典的開場白流傳了200多年，時(shí)至今日，仍然被世人所津津樂道。
《傲慢與偏見》是英國小說家簡·奧斯汀(Jane Austen)的代表作，小說講述了鄉(xiāng)紳之女伊麗莎白·班內(nèi)特的愛情故事。
古往今來，作家筆下的愛情故事有很多，但奧斯汀筆下的伊麗莎白(Elizabeth)和達(dá)西(Darcy)無疑給世人留下了深刻的印象。他們之間的愛情談不上轟轟烈烈，也談不上刻骨銘心，然而，凡是看過小說或者小說改編的電影的人，無一不覺得真摯動(dòng)人。

而達(dá)西最終放下身份和驕傲，向伊麗莎白表白。

I had to see you. I have fought against my better judgment, my family's expectations, the inferiority (低等；自卑) of your birth by rank and circumstance.
