連續(xù)三周幾乎每天都在修改Resume和Cover Letter,吸取了各類資源和高人(行業(yè),Career Center等)的意見之后。終于可以Debrief一下啦。僅供大家分享,挖掘過去,開創(chuàng)未來。
網(wǎng)上有很多不同版本的這些信息,大多數(shù)太泛太膚淺太缺乏思考,所以這篇文章的目的是希望為大家提供深刻見解的,至于簡歷的基礎(chǔ)信息就不介紹了,不知道的也可以自學(xué)。
總體來說,Cover Letter和Resume就是問“So What”,你做了無數(shù)的事情,So what? 看你簡歷的人都是在問這些問題,回答好了這個問題,得到Interview就木有問題啦。

第一篇:Cover Letter求職信(不要再叫它自薦信哦,這名字太沒水平太老土了)
目的:Win the interview (Not the job)
結(jié)構(gòu):不要亂改結(jié)構(gòu),HR一般只看第二段;
第一段:說明你為什么要申請這個職位,以及表明你已經(jīng)跟公司里面的某個人談過了(重要!這樣人家不會認為你的Cover Letter是Spam)。通常的切入點是公司的培訓(xùn),文化以及行業(yè)狀況,工作性質(zhì)等等(選擇因人和工作而異)。Anyway,表現(xiàn)出下過一番功夫。
第二段:說明你為什么勝任職位。以Job Description為出發(fā)點,選出2-3點公司認為的重要的素質(zhì),加以闡述。特別重要的是!除了Resume中最shining的信息外,還要講述部分新的內(nèi)容,特別是personal的感人信息,可以講故事,但是要簡潔,就像給家人寫一封信一樣,讓人動情。講完故事問自己一句“So what”,這些故事經(jīng)歷對公司能有什么貢獻。HR希望在CL中看到Resume中沒有的信息,所以不能讓讀者有浪費時間看重復(fù)內(nèi)容的感覺。
第三段:謝謝,你的聯(lián)系方式。并且說明你會Follow-up (重要!很多機會是Follow up出來的,而且人家看了會覺得你有誠意,真心想要這份工作);
注意事項:
1. 要知道標準格式!Professional Firm很看重Professional,如果自己很牛,但是做的東西不Pro,不要怪HR或者Manager不給機會。標準格式是什么?去有途網(wǎng)隨便下一個Cover Letter Guide,看Sample,注意空格,空行,邊距,字體,空白(空白很重要,原因?你一天工作18小時,結(jié)果讓你看一張A4的紙上面全部是字。。。你會是什么感受?),以及電子簽名。
2. 再次強調(diào),Cover Letter寫上跟Resume不同的東西
3. Cover Letter一定要很好的Tailor到每個公司,不然就是Spam,你知道Spam的下場吧;
4. 將自己的Cover Letter拿給人家看,問問是不是很吸引眼球。修改CL是一個長期過程。
第二篇:簡歷Resume
目的:Win the interview (Not the job)
結(jié)構(gòu):Contact --> Education --> Experience (篇幅一半)--> Activities--> Skills
格式:不要花哨,簡潔,要合理的運用“空白”(跟CL同理)。只能有一頁(除非你特別肯定那個HR或者忙的要死的Manager會讀完你的N-page的Resume)
Education:
1. 日期寫Graduation Date,不要寫 XXX - Present
2. GPA,Major GPA,TOEFL,GMAT什么的,高就放,不高就省略。多少是高?GMAT 730+, GPA 3.5+
3. 學(xué)位,專業(yè)。。。。你知道的
Experience & Activities: 四個字:結(jié)果導(dǎo)向(量化)
相信大家做了很多事情,也學(xué)了很多東西,然后很想把他們都放到簡歷上面去。很多人會說我干了我在某個學(xué)生會干了很多事情,比如組織活動,策劃等等。?;蛘邔嵙?xí)中怎么怎么樣了。。。It's OK, but so what? 所以,這里最關(guān)鍵的就是: Action leads to Results。什么是Result呢?看看公司的年報,他們都有自己的Key Performance Indicator,那就是Result。Investor關(guān)心的就是那些,他們不關(guān)心你中途干了多么Fancy的事情(雖然很重要)。這個道理對HR是同樣的。如果你的Action只是Action,沒有Result的,那意義就不大了。這里可以舉點例子:
*實習(xí)中:%的工作得到承認,Performance Assessment的評價系數(shù),創(chuàng)造了多少收入,為XX部門提供了多少增長率,完成了%的年度指標。。。等等
*學(xué)生會:Membership增長百分比(Marketing做的好不好的評價),Retention rate(人才培訓(xùn)做的好不好的指標),參加會議的人數(shù)(影響度),滿意度(組織的成功度),Budget(規(guī)模)。。。。。反正一堆,關(guān)鍵是要有這個意識去想到這些。
*各種比賽獎項:為什么大家喜歡得獎,因為獎項是對行動的證明。。但是多多發(fā)掘自己的過去,你也會發(fā)現(xiàn)即使沒有獎項,你也完成了很多Result
我相信說了這么多,大家悟性這么好,應(yīng)該明白了。。看看你的簡歷,每句話是否有數(shù)字,是否有結(jié)果,沒有?趕緊改喲:) 總體來說,Resume是一個悟性問題,以結(jié)果為導(dǎo)向,甚至可以讓你在未來做事情的時候有一個清晰的目標,做事的時候更有效率,更有效能。。。。。避免醬油:)
Action words
- 強烈每句話的開頭的Action Words都不一樣!
- 每句話一定是Action words開頭
- 針對申請職位需要的技能來設(shè)計Action words (見附表)
Skills:
不要寫無關(guān)的Skill,不要寫Office,即使你覺得你Excel用的很好,在Experience里面表現(xiàn)出來。比如用Excel做了Valuation Model, Scenario Analysis,Pivot Table等等。。。
總結(jié)+嘮叨:
其實CL和Resume就是一個認識自己,展望未來的過程。雖然整篇文章強調(diào)了Results-oriented,但是這并不代表有些事情跟Results沒有直接關(guān)系就不去干。。。個人是不喜歡這種比較功利的思想,但是business is business。。。Anyway,Enjoy your life, enjoy job hunting!
